Who is behind Vessel Surf?

Omer Sferra cannot remember a time when the ocean was not a part of his life. Born and raised in New York, he fell in love with the art of riding waves as a kid on Long Beach Island, NJ, where summers were spent chasing waves and sailing small craft vessels while visiting his grandparents. Life took him away from the coast for a while, where he pursued a degree in environmental science, worked in fisheries and as a natural sciences educator, but the ocean always called him back. When he returned, he picked up his board again—and hasn’t put it down.

Now, Omer has turned his lifelong passion into a craft, specializing in surf coaching and surfboard repair that keeps riders constantly improving and keeps their boards in the water where they belong. With a sharp eye for detail and a deep reverence for board-building craft, he brings classic and contemporary boards back to life with a sustainability ethic and respect for the ocean.

Got a board that needs some love? Give Omer a shout and let him get you back in the water.
